Renovation Design That Supports Real Living
Renovation is not simply changing surfaces. It is rethinking how your home works.
Our Renovation Architects in Melbourne design spaces that honour what you love while solving what no longer works.
✔️ Strategic space planning
We assess your existing home carefully and create renovation design solutions that feel logical, spacious, and intentional. From reshaping living zones to adding bedrooms or a parents’ retreat, every move has purpose.
✔️ Sustainable renovation outcomes
We improve comfort and performance. This may include draught sealing, insulation upgrades, glazing improvements, or full Passive House standard renovations depending on your goals.
✔️ Respect for character and context
Whether your home is a Victorian terrace, mid-century brick veneer, or bungalow, we design renovations that feel coherent and cohesive, not like an awkward add-on.
A Renovation Process That Reduces Stress
Renovating an existing home can feel overwhelming: unknown costs, unclear approvals, and decisions that ripple through every room.
We begin with clarity.
The Home Masterplan Report is our pre-design strategy package. It includes renovation layout options, planning considerations, and cost guidance before you commit to construction.
It is the safest way to understand the feasibility of your renovation before you spend thousands on drawings.
Starting strategically saves time, budget, and heartache later.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions About Renovating With an Architect
-
If your renovation is more than cosmetic, working with an architect is almost always beneficial. The moment you are changing layout, opening up spaces, improving energy performance, adding rooms, or touching structure, the design decisions start to influence cost, comfort, compliance, and long-term value.
An architect helps you make the right moves early, so your renovation feels purposeful, not pieced together. Most of our clients come to us because they want to avoid costly rework or a renovation that feels disconnected from the original home. -
Often, yes. Renovations that affect structure, waterproofing, insulation, glazing, extensions, or the building envelope typically require a building permit. Cosmetic updates like repainting or replacing benchtops generally do not.
Because the rules can be confusing, we have written a clear, plain-language guide: What triggers a building permit in Victoria.
We review permit triggers as part of your Home Masterplan Report so you understand the approvals pathway before you commit to building. -
We design the interior architecture: joinery, kitchen and bathroom layouts, lighting planning, material palettes, and how movement and sightlines connect the home.
For furniture selection and decorative styling, we coordinate an interior designer as part of the project team. It works in the same way we coordinate engineers, landscape designers, or building surveyors.
This approach keeps the home cohesive while allowing the finishing touches to reflect your personal taste. -
Most of our clients find they have everything they need within our studio. Because we design the kitchen, bathrooms, joinery, finishes, lighting, and spatial experience, the home already feels complete and intentional.
If you would like help with loose furniture, rugs, artwork, or styling, we are very happy to collaborate with your preferred interior designer or introduce someone whose aesthetic aligns with your home. But it is absolutely not required. Your renovation will be beautifully resolved either way.
-
Yes. If you do not already have a builder in mind, we guide you through a structured tender or Early Contractor Involvement process.
We work only with builders who value craft, clear communication, and transparency in pricing. This protects both the design intent and your experience during construction.
