The Smartest First Step Before Designing Your Dream Home
Check out our Home Masterplan Report for expert guidance before you build.
Our Approach to Regional Projects
Although we’re based in Melbourne, most of our clients (whether regional or local) only require 20 to 50 percent of their meetings in person. The rest are easily handled via Zoom, phone, and shared cloud files.
We offer a clear and strategic entry point through our Home Masterplan Report, where we test your brief against the real-world constraints of your budget, site, and timeline. It’s perfect for those wondering if their dream home or renovation is actually achievable, especially in more remote areas.
We do reserve the right to adjust our service fees to account for increased travel time, particularly where frequent site visits are involved. That said, we also know how to make smart use of remote tools to minimise unnecessary travel costs.
A Note on Contract Administration
The service where travel tends to matter most is Contract Administration. This phase begins once your project is on site. Our job is to regularly visit and check in on construction progress, ensure the builder follows the drawings and specifications, and answer builder queries quickly and clearly.
This part of the process is more hands-on, with frequent on-site inspections and coordination. If your project is located a significant distance from Melbourne, we’ll let you know early if this component may attract additional fees. We may also recommend working with a local architect or project manager who can take on this stage. We’re happy to subcontract or novate this phase to someone closer, if that’s your preference.
Either way, you stay in control.
A Few of Our Regional Projects
Beaconsfield Hillside Home – A near-off-grid bushland retreat designed for energy efficiency, solar performance, and beautiful living in tune with the landscape.
Warrnambool Saltbush Retreat – A sustainable renovation to an existing brick home, designed to maximise sea breezes, native landscaping, and calming coastal tones.
Mildura Feasibility Study – An early-stage design investigation for an accessible holiday home for NDIS participants, balancing functional design with relaxed indoor-outdoor flow.
FAQs
Do you charge more for regional projects?
We may adjust our service fees to reflect the cost of extended travel, particularly for stages like Contract Administration which involve more frequent site visits. Wherever possible, we offer flexible delivery models and online meeting options to keep costs efficient.
Can most of the work be done online?
Yes. Many of our regional clients only require one or two in-person meetings. Everything else, from briefing to design reviews, can be done remotely.
What happens if I need someone on site regularly?
If you live further from Melbourne and prefer not to pay for regular travel, we’re happy to explore subcontracting or novating construction-phase services to someone closer. We’ll only do this with your approval and if we feel the quality and alignment are right.
Have you worked in my area before?
We’ve worked with clients from Warrnambool to the Mornington Peninsula, from Corryong to Mildura, and we’re always open to new locations. We’d especially love to connect with families and professionals in places like Castlemaine, Daylesford, Woodend, Macedon, Trentham, Kyneton, Inverloch, Anglesea, Torquay, Buninyong, Beechworth, Bright, Rutherglen, and Red Hill.
